Security and accuracy: how Capture Sets are handled, and how the numbers are checked
A Capture Set is a complete image of people's homes. Treating it with care is a condition of doing this work at all.
What a Capture Set contains
Laser scan stations and photographs of occupied dwellings: rooms, furniture, sometimes residents' belongings and documents. Under the GDPR the owner of the building is the controller of that data and AI Renovation is the processor, working under a data processing agreement that names the purposes (reconstruction, labelling, takeoff, simulation), the retention periods, and the subprocessors.
Hosting and access
Capture Sets, As-Built Models, and Scope Packs are stored and processed on infrastructure located in the European Union. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is per programme and per role; the owner decides who sees imagery, who sees quantities, and who exports. Staff access to raw imagery is logged and limited to quality review.
Imagery and residents
Faces, screens, and documents visible in photographs are blurred before any human review. Raw imagery is deleted 90 days after the Scope Pack is accepted unless the owner extends retention in writing. The As-Built Model and the Element Ledger, which contain geometry and quantities but no imagery, are kept for the duration of the programme.
How accuracy is measured
Three numbers travel with every Scope Pack. Registration residual is the RMS deviation of station-to-station registration across the Capture Set, computed by the Capture Ledger before any GPU-hour is spent. Element label agreement is the mean intersection over union between the Element Labeller's classes and an independent surveyor's re-measurement of a 5% sample of elements. Takeoff deviation is the percentage difference between the Trade Lot Takeoff and the surveyor's hand metre on the same sampled lots. The Residual Map adds the scan-to-model deviation of every element so reviewers know where to look.
The commitments

Registration residual at or below 5.8 mm RMS per Capture Set, or stations are flagged for re-scan before the Reconstruction Run starts.

Element label agreement at or above 79% mean IoU, or the Trade Lot Takeoff is held for surveyor review before release.

Takeoff deviation under 5% on every sampled lot, or the Reconstruction Run is redone at no cost.

Turnaround of 48 hours from complete upload to Scope Pack export for a building of up to 6,000 m2.
Reporting and incidents
Programme customers receive a quarterly accuracy report on their own buildings. Security incidents affecting a Capture Set are notified to the controller within 48 hours of confirmation, with the affected stations listed.
